This Harvest Margarita is the perfect fall cocktail recipe – whether you’re bringing it to Friendsgiving or just making it to sip on on a cozy autumn night.
I wanted to create a recipe that embodied some of the things I love most this time of year: apple cider, pumpkin spice, and of course, margaritas. This cocktail combines all of these things to make a delicious drink. I will personally be making it all fall long!
Fall Cocktail Recipe
To your shaker, add 1 ½ to 2 ounces of tequila. Reposado or Blanco tequila works great in this recipe. I am using Tequila Zarpado here – I really like this tequila and it makes a great margarita.
Next, add ½ of an ounce of Cointreau. If you don’t have this, you can use Triple Sec or Grand Marnier! Orange liqueur is a staple in any margarita recipe, and it will really heighten the orange flavor that we’ll add later.
Add ¾ of an ounce of lime juice, which is generally the juice of around 1 – 2 limes depending on how juicy they are. Next, add the juice of half of a blood orange. If you don’t have a blood orange, you can use ½ of an ounce of orange juice!
Add 2 oz of apple cider to your shaker and then add ½ of an ounce of pumpkin pie spice syrup. I made this by simmering equal parts of sugar and water over low heat with ½ TBSP of pumpkin pie spice until the sugar dissolves. Let this cool and transfer it to an airtight container. If you have some pumpkin spice syrup at home, you can definitely use that!
Give this a good shake and pour it over ice into a lowball glass rimmed with salt or sugar. Garnish with a dried orange slice and cinnamon stick!
