A Spooky Halloween Cocktail: The Mummy
Spooky Season is the perfect time to craft a creative Halloween Cocktail. I am doing 13 Days of Halloween Cocktails for the occasion! Make sure to follow me on Tik Tok and Instagram to keep up with all of my boo-tiful creations.
When I think of classic Halloween costumes, I think of mummies. It is such a simple last-minute costume that I have used on many occasions. I was also inspired by the movie, “The Mummy.” Admittedly, I haven’t seen it – but I am a big fan of the movie-inspired roller coaster at Universal Studios.
So why not create a Halloween Cocktail inspired by this classic costume?
This is a very simple recipe. You may already have all of the necessary ingredients on your bar cart and in your fridge! It is basically a White Russian, but I substitued the regular vodka for vanilla vodka. If you do not have vanilla vodka, then you can use regular vodka (my favorite is Tito’s) and add a teaspoon of vanilla extract. I enjoy sweeter drinks, but if you do not you can certainly use regular vodka and leave out the vanilla.
This Halloween cocktail uses heavy cream (as is typical in a White Russian). If you do not consume dairy, then there are certianly alternatives you can use! I reccomend a non-dairy creamer (like oat or almond based creamer), or sweetend coconut milk.
Tips for decorating your glass:
I used a highball glass for this cocktail. I think this works best for decorating it with gauze – but feel free to try it out with different sized glasses! Using gauze from Walmart, I taped one end to the lower part of the glass. Wrap the gauze around the glass until it reached about 2/3 up the glass. Give it a twist on the last loop and tape it to the back of the glass.
I brushed a brown eyeshadow on the creases of the gauze and places that it overlaps to give that aged, dirty look. The best part of this glass decoration is that it acts as a makeshift koozie and keeps your hands warm!
Recipe
To create this cocktail, first add glass to your decorated highball glass. Then add 2 ounces of your vanilla vodka, followed by 1 ounce of a Coffee Liqueur like Kahlua. Top this with heavy cream or your dairy alternative creamer (about 2-3 ounces). Give this a gentle mix to comibe the ingredients, and serve! This simple recipe takes just minutes to come together.
