Two Muddled Margaritas to make this Summer

Margaritas are great any time of year, but a good margarita in the summertime just hits different. Here are two muddled margarita recipes that you need to try for the summer of 2022.

The base margarita recipe for both of these cocktails is the same. We’re using tequila, triple sec (I prefer Cointreau), lime juice and a splash of simple syrup. I am an advocate for using as much or as little of an ingredient as you want, so feel free to make adjustments!

Watermelon Mint Margaritas

This classic combination screams summertime and tastes as refreshing as it sounds. Grab your watermelon and your mint and let’s get started.

I have been reaching for the Mini Seedless Watermelons at Trader Joe’s ($3.79!) because they’re the perfect size for one person to finish over a couple of days. For this recipe you will only need one or two chunks of your melon. Toss this into the bottom of your shaker and add 3-4 mint leaves depending on how much you want to taste that minty flavor. Add a splash of simple syrup, then muddle everything together!

Once you’ve muddled everything, you’re going to add in the rest of your ingredients: 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of Cointreau and ¾ to 1 oz of lime juice. Shake this for about 10 to 15 seconds. Strain over ice in a lowball glass, and enjoy! This flavor combination is fabulous in other ways, like salads! Once you try it, you’ll be hooked.

Cucumber Jalapeño Margaritas

Cucumber cocktails are the pinnacle of relaxation. To me, anyways. I think that alcoholic spa water is one of the best alcohol related creations. The addition of jalapeño creates a fabulous flavor profile that I am loving for spring and summer.

The process for this margarita is similar to the previous, just with different ingredients. Muddle a few chunks of cucumber and a couple slices of jalepeño with ½ – 1 oz of simple syrup. You can remove as much of the seeds and ribs as you desire. The more you leave in, the spicier your drink will be!

From here, add 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of Cointreau and ¾ to 1 oz of lime juice and shake. Strain over ice and enjoy this slightly spicy, but totally refreshing cocktail.

Cheers!
